Entries will be accepted until first rehearsal (Thursday, June 12, 2008) with a
late fee accessed of $15.00
AGE DIVISIONS: Baby Miss 0-23 months Wee Miss 2-4 years
Tiny Miss 5-7 years Petite Miss 8-9 years
Princess Miss 10-12 years Junior Miss 13-15 years
Miss 16-22 years (can not be 23 before January 2009)
COMPETITION AREAS
Contestants will compete in the following areas:
All age divisions will participate in Country Wear. This can be defined as
anything country, including cowboy boots, western shirts, denim skirts, cowboy
hats, etc.
Baby: Country Wear/Casual only.
Wee, Tiny, Petite: Country Wear, and Gown (short or long).
Princess, Junior: Interview-(5 Minute), Country Wear, contestants will say a
“quick speech” (under 30 secs. “What they like most about the Rockbridge
Regional Fair”), and Gown.
Miss: Interview– (5 minute) - (Miss Contestants will present a 1 minute synopsis
of their platform to the judges, the remaining 4 minutes will be for general
questions from the judges), Country Wear, contestants will say a “quick speech”
(under 30 secs.”What they like most about the Rockbridge Regional Fair”), Gown,
and On Stage Question. This question will be selected by the judges from the
information on your entry forms. We try to mirror what the State pageant will
include so that the Miss Contestant will be prepared.
OPENING NUMBER
Wee, Tiny, Petite, Princess, Junior, and Miss:
Opening number outfit will be your Country Wear outfit. Each contestant will
introduce themselves to the audience during the opening number.
OPTIONAL COMPETITION AREAS
Photogenic and/or Portfolio : Open to all age divisions: Entries will be judged
prior to pageant evening.
Please turn in Photogenic pictures (8x10 or smaller –no frames) and/or
Portfolios (10 photos or less in a
book) at the rehearsal date for your age division. Photos and Portfolios will be
returned at pageant check-in June 21, 2008.
Runway Model: * OPEN TO ALL AGE DIVISIONS*. Contestants should have fun with
this competition and express their personality. Outfit of Choice (may be funky
or casual). Model routine of choice. Music will be upbeat. Time limit of 1:30
min. for each routine.
PROGRAM BOOK.
Contestants are not required, but are encouraged to sell ads pages for the
program book. Contestants please attach a wallet size photo with your
application that will be included in the program book. Each contestant will
receive a complementary copy of the program book. The remaining books will be on
sale at the door.
AWARDS
Awards will be given to the winner, first and second runner-ups in each
division. Each division winner will receive a Crown, Monogrammed Sash, Sash Pin,
and Trophy. Runner-ups will receive a trophy. Each contestant will receive a
participation award.
Photogenic, Portfolio, and Runway Model - 1 winner from each division
HIGH INTERVIEW AWARDS
There will be a High Interview Award for each age division participating in
interview. The contestant receiving the highest combined score from the judges
for their individual interviews will receive an award.
PEOPLE CHOICE AWARD
There will be a Peoples Choice award at each pageant. Spectators vote ($1.00 per
vote) for the contestant of their choice. The winner (determined by dollar
amounts collected) will receive 50% of the funds collected.
PARTICIPATION IN STATE PAGEANT
The winner of the Miss division will represent the Rockbridge Regional Fair at
the Virginia Association of Fairs pageant held in January 2009. The fair will
pay the winners entry fee to the State Pageant and lodging expenses while
attending the pageant.
The Queen will be accompanied by a chaperone to the state pageant. The
contestant is responsible for the wardrobes and props that may be required to
participate.
RESPONSIBILITY TO SERVICE
Queens will be expected to attend the Rockbridge Regional Fair, and will be
assigned duties throughout the week including making appearances and presenting
awards. Queens will also make appearances at various functions and parades
throughout the year.
REIGN
Queens may not give up their crown and compete in the same year. Once a
contestant has been crowned in a particular age group, they may not compete
again until they age up into the next age division, with the exception of the
Miss Division. Miss Queens may re-compete after their crowning year.
PROGRAM BOOK AD GUIDELINES
Contestants are not required but are encouraged to submit ads for the pageant
program book. The photos sent for the ads will not be judged.

2. Arrange all pertinent ad information on the front of an 8 ½ X 11 sheet of
paper. On the back please list: contestant’s
name and contact phone number. Please do not tape, staple or write on the front of the cards/artwork to be used in the
ad.
3. ALL ADS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN FRIDAY JUNE 6, 2007 TO BE INCLUDED
IN THE
PROGRAM BOOK.
4. Make all checks payable to ROCKBRIDGE REGIONAL FAIR.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Contestants must never have been married or had children.
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated by contestants, parents, or
chaperones. Please be aware that any rude or unsportsmanlike conduct will result
in immediate disqualification and dismissal from the pageant.
Valid certification of age may be required. Ages will be determined as of the
day of the pageant, with the exception of the Miss contestants who must be at
least 16 but not turn 23 before January 2009.
Each contestant will be allowed one chaperone with them in the dressing room.
In the event that the winner of a division can not fulfill their duties, the 1st
Runner-up will become the winner.
All judges’ decisions are final and scores will not be disclosed to parents or
contestants.
