GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 4-H/FFA DEPARTMENT
1. All General Rules and Regulations of County Fair will apply.
2. Exhibitors must be a bona fide member of a Rockbridge County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Exhibitors of poultry and 4-H
project exhibitors must be a bona fide member of Rockbridge County 4-H.
3. All exhibits, other than livestock, must be checked in by one of the Department Superintendents between 5:00 p.m. & 9:00
p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008. Absolutely no exhibits will be accepted before or after these hours.
4. Non-livestock exhibits will be judged from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Judges’ decisions are final.
5. All entries must be removed from the Exhibit Hall between 8:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008 to receive
premium money. Items picked up at ANY OTHER TIME or left will forfeit premium money. Live animals entries in Division
VII may be picked up Tuesday, July 15, 2008 after 3:00 p.m.
6. The Department Superintendents will not be responsible for any article not claimed by 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008.
Items not picked up at this time will be held at the Extension office for one week. After this they will be donated to a charitable
organization or disposed of in a suitable manner.
7. All exhibits other than livestock or other animals must be a result of this year’s work and must not have been displayed at a
previous year’s fair.
8 All exhibits must have been made or prepared by the exhibitor.
9. Only one entry can be made by an individual in each class.
10. Only exhibits listed in the catalog will be accepted.
11. Exhibits entered under “other” in any class must be different from classes already entered.
12. Entries not conforming to the stated rules will be disqualified.
13. Entries will be judged on a Danish system with a blue, red or white ribbon award on quality, except for cloverbud entries.
Cloverbud entries will not be judged and will receive a participation ribbon. All exhibits will receive a ribbon unless it does
not conform to the rules.
14. The point system shall be: 3 points for each blue ribbon; 2 points for each red ribbon; and 1 point for each white ribbon.
15. Premium monies will be awarded, if available, as follows: $2.00 for each blue ribbon; $1.00 for each red; and .50¢ for each
white. (Premiums will be determined according to funds available).
16. In classes where there is only one article entered, the second place premium may be awarded.
17. One male and one female in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions will be declared overall winners based on points.
An award and premium of $10.00 will be given to the winners.
18. One 4-H exhibitor will be selected as the Top 4-H Exhibitor based on total points on exhibits other than livestock. An
appropriate award and premium of $25.00 will be given to this 4-H member.
19. Premium money will be given at the time exhibits are picked up between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. on Sunday,
July 20, 2008 (See No. 4). If you are unable to pick up your exhibits, make prior arrangements for someone else to do so.
20. PRE-ENTRIES ARE REQUIRED IN FASHION REVUE, livestock, and Horse Showmanship.
21. All 4-H entry forms must be completed online at: www.rockbridgefair.com.
